Water Level Information
The Ogallala Aquifer is a vast aquifer that lies beneath the surface in parts of eight states. It is a finite resource that is currently being mined (withdrawing more than is being recharged). Each State, each district and each county may have varying levels of pumpage, recharge, and decline. The diversification of uses and conditions will result in varying availabilities for pumpage.
In order to protect property rights, balance the conservation and development of groundwater to meet the needs of this state, the District will use the best available science to make policy decisions.
